About Robert
For the most part, Robert is a self-taught photographer. From the first 35mm rangefinder camera in 1963 to today's digital SLR, Robert's respect for proven photographic concepts has been augmented by creative darkroom and digital darkroom techniques.
From his purchase of a one megapixel digital camera to today's digital SLR, Robert has developed digital techniques that are an extension of film experience. Robert believes that the greater the effort in accurately capturing an image, the less time required in postprocessing. In fact, Robert's favourite challenge to photography students is, "Do you want to be a photographer or a computer operator."
None the less, Robert embraces a variety of new photographic techniques that do require additional postprocessing. You will notice some of the newer digital techniques making their way in Robert's recent works, especially HDR (high dynamic range) and digital photo stitching.
The Art of Photography
The accomplished photographer should be willing to constantly explore the expanding parameters of photography. After all, photography is a medium that has undergone a massive transformation in the past decade. Rather than dismissing styles or techniques, why not see them as expanding the vision of the Art of Photography.
My Relationship with Photography
I believe that my life experiences and challenges greatly reflect both my style of photography, the equipment I use to capture the images and the way I prepare an image for presentation.
